The best glucosamine/chondroitin
|
| Review Date: December 17, 2004 |

| This product reduced the swelling and pain in my finger joints. Other, cheaper, glucosamine/chondroitin products I have tried did not help. This pioneering product works. The other cheaper products I tried were somehow different and useless. More and more I am finding that things with the same chemical name do not necessarily work the same. |
Huge help for my low back/hip pain
|
| Review Date: December 25, 2005 |
| Reviewer: Roy Massie, Birmingham, AL United States |
My chiropractor recommended this brand specifically. I have been taking two per day for a few months and have noticed a huge improvement in preventing my chronic hip/back pain. It took about 6 weeks or so for it to make a difference, but it really helps.
I definitely plan to stay with this brand though I have not tried others, no need to - the benefit is worth the price. I don't want to risk having to start over if a cheaper brand doesn't work out. |
For stiff, creaky knees

I used to have creaky, stiff knees - like rusty hinges. Since I started taking Cosamin DS (one in the morning, one in the evening), my knees do not creak and are not stiff.
I recommend Cosamin DS to anyone who has the same problem. |

| My husband has been using this product for a decade. His Orthopedic Surgeon recommended this brand only and told him to stay away from other similar products because they don't work as efficiently. His hip needs to be replaced and with the use to Cosamin DS he has gotten so much relief that he has been able to put off the replacement for 10 years...and still counting. It isn't a quick fix though. It took about 4 months of using the product before he saw increased mobility and decreased pain. He swears by this product and never misses a dose. |
Best on Market

| My rheumatologist (and med school professor) says he thinks everyone over 50 ought to take this supplement -- but only this particular brand. Despite recent reports that glucosamine/chondroitin generally may be ineffective, he continues to recommend it because the fed govt (NIH? not sure which agency) did a well-designed study of this actual brand and found it effective. My understanding is that, while it may sometimes cause new cartilage growth, it is most useful for minimizing future cartilage loss, i.e., it's primarily effective as a preventative supplement. |
A supplement that works

I am an aging athlete, in my fifties. After years of wearing down the cartilage in my knees by extensive hiking, I was looking for something to stop the grinding and the pain when I pursued my outdoor activities. I started taking glucosamine/condroitin supplements after reading about them.
After a knee surgery, my surgeon indicated that my articular cartilage was diminishing in both knees. He suggested that I take the above mentioned supplements, but he recommended Cosamin DS as one of the purest products, without the fillers. I have been taking it for two years and I have noticed that my knees don't grind when I go up the stairs in my house as they had in the past. I have been able to continuing hiking and telemark skiing - with minimal pain.
I highly recommend this supplement based on personal experience. |
Cosamin DS, A PROVEN JOINT HEALTH SUPPLEMENT

| Upon the recommendation of a doctor, I began taking Cosamin DS five years ago for my deteriorating knee joint. Within weeks the knee pain gradually disappeared. My knee no longer is a concern. I have recommended this product to others with joint problems. Most of them have had similar results. |
Why I take CosiminDS
|
| Review Date: July 25, 2005 |
| Reviewer: J. Wikner, Maryland |
Years ago I read an article in The New York Times written by a woman whose dog was diagnoses with arthritis. His veterinarian had prescribed CosiminDS for him, and his owner recognized a marked improvement in his movements. She started taking CosiminDS for her own arthritis and also noticed an improvement.
In the meantime I looked up on Dr. Koop's website to see if there could be any ill effects from taking Cosmin/Chondrotin and was informed that there were none. (I have yet to read of any studies that dispute this statement, although it's always wise to check.) So being arthritic myself, I started taking it and have done so for years. Be it coincident or not, I have no need to take any other pain medicine for my arthritis. |
Really works for me

| Since I started taking cosamin a couple of years ago I have found I develop joint pain less often, and when I do it heals much faster. My wife also gets some relief for her mild case of arthritis. Tried some less expensive brands, but found I had trouble swallowing them. The Cosamin DS tablets are much easier to swallow. |
Only brand that works for me.

| For three years I took Schiff's, then Members Mark (Sam's Club own brand), and finally NOW, and the pain in my knees got to be excruciating. I couldn't take a step without cringing. After reading the reviews for this brand I gave it a try. I am astonished at its efficacy. The very next morning the pain was gone. I gardened all day and the next morning there was no pain either. If you are about to give up on glucosamine, don't, give this brand a try instead. |

| Started taking it on recommendation of my vet. Works for people, too, and helps my rheumatoid arthritis. Glad they have a version for people now and I don't have to keep "stealing" the pills from my dog. Mary Lou Wood |

Cosamin DS Joint Health Supplement, Capsules, 210-Count Bottle
When I had arthroscopic surgery on my knee a couple of years ago, the Dr found that I was down to bone on bone. I had very bad arthritis in that joint and he recommended this brand of Glucosamine. I have been pretty good about taking it faithfully and I am able to do most activities painfree. My exercise is restricted because of other damage to the knee so to be fair it is comprised of activities like bowling, bicycling, low impact aerobics and weights. I was particularly pleased to find the program where the supplements will be sent out on a regular basis so that I don't have to worry about reordering. Plus, the price is one of the best I have found. |
Don't think twice - buy it!!

I have basal joint arthritis, which means the cartilage at the base of my thumbs has deteriorated. The pain was excruciating and treatments were not working. In desperation, because the pain was ruining a vacation (I couldn't even hold six playing cards in my hand), I bought Cosamin DS after reading everything in the drug aisle. Within 30 minutes of taking it, the pain was bearable - HUGE improvement. I could not believe the difference. If it did that miracle in less than 30 minutes, I can't wait to see what it does long-term.
Update (Feb. 2009) in case anyone reading this has basal joint arthritis or other joint problems. I had adult stem cell treatment (from Regenexx in Colorado) last year (stem cells from my own marrow and blood), which has helped my hands enormously and which I wholeheartedly recommend. One of the pre-injection and post-treatment therapies requested by doctor was CosaminDS, which I still take and which continues to make a difference in my improvement. |
